Chris Bateman learned his trade as a chimney sweep from a local Bristol legend in the late eighties after leaving the Royal Marines. Chris was a sweep for 20 years before he took Jim Burston under his wing and taught him the trade over a 6 month period. Since Chris’ retirement, Jim has taken over the reigns to provide the same first class service to current and future clients and the company has since been re-named
Jim Burston –
I retired from the Royal Marines after a 26 year career seeking new challenges and was fortunate to be put in touch with Chris where I immediately agreed to learn under his tutelage and eventually take over the business. I subsequently completed further training with HETAS at the SureFire Training Centre at Ripley, and more in-depth sweeps training with the Guild of Master Chimney Sweeps with on-site training under another legendary sweep, Dave Wooffindin.
I live in Exmouth where I am married with 3 children and 2 dogs, which just allows me enough time to enjoy rugby – especially watching Exeter Chiefs. I am currently trading as Chris Bateman Chimney Services until I complete the full round of customers on our database, before I change the name of the business to something more personal.
